Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have a question or is something not quite clear yet? The quickest answer to your questions can be found below.

Carsub subscription, you decide!

What's included in a Carsub car subscription?

With a Carsub subscription, you get access to a new or young used dealer maintained car including necessary maintenance and repair, insurance, registration, depreciation, VAT, road tax, roadside assistance and 1,250 free kilometers per month.

What types of subscriptions are there?

We offer a flexible or "fixed" subscription.

With a flexible subscription, you choose freedom. You can then drive per month and you can drive as long as you want and only have a 30-day notice period.

With a'fixed' subscription, you enter into a subscription for the chosen period. The advantage is that you have a lower monthly rate, the "disadvantage" is that you have no flexibility to switch more often or drive short.

Would you like to change or cancel your fixed subscription earlier? Of course you can, but we will charge 30% of your remaining term.

So you always have a choice in advance of which type of subscription best suits you or your lifestyle.

Who can subscribe to Carsub?

Anyone who is at least 24 years old and has held their driver's license for at least 2 years with a residence in the Netherlands can subscribe to Carsub cars. Possession of a valid car license and Dutch ID from an EU country is required.

Unfortunately, we cannot offer a Carsub subscription to persons with a negative credit check (due to BKR and credit reporting agency). In addition, our car partner performs an independent acceptance check. Carsub and its car partner reserve the right at all times to refuse a customer application with and without an acceptance check.

In addition to the driver (subscriber), a (free) 2nd driver may use the Carsub car. Both drivers must be at least 24 years old and have held a valid car license from an EU country for 2 years. Persons not registered with us are not allowed to drive your car.

What is the minimum subscription period?

The minimum subscription period is 1 month + 1 month's notice. So you always drive for a minimum of 2 months.

How can I request a car/quote?
  1. Simply choose your car
  2. Choose your desired subscription terms and fill in your details

After your no-obligation inquiry, we will send you our quote and follow up with your inquiry.

The faster you respond, the faster you can get on the road 🚗!

How much deposit do I pay?

Deposit depends on the car partner where you will drive your car (subscription) and is always at least €500. It may be that our car partner requires a fixed deposit amount or 2 monthly installments. The amount of the deposit will be shared with you after acceptance of your information and during the final offer.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Cancellation should always be done via your Carsub account. After the first 1 month, you can stop/cancel your subscription in "my account" on carsub.co.uk with 1 month's notice.

Where does delivery take place?

You can always pick up the car yourself (free of charge) at the car partner who delivers your car. This is always possible on weekdays. Some car partners/suppliers are also open on Saturdays.

We also offer concierge/delivery service. Then you can have your car delivered to your desired location anywhere in the Netherlands on weekdays (Monday through Friday). There is a charge for this.

Why does Carsub conduct a credit and identity check?

In connection with insurance, your solvency and anticipation against possible misuse of our services, we conduct an accurate identity and credit check to minimize the risks of misuse. Based on your complete registration information, we can perform an identity and credit check. The credit check is performed only once during the initial booking.

What types of cars are there?

We have new and young used cars. We are brand-independent, so you can choose from all makes and models.

Is your desired make and model not among our offerings?

Email us your question/car preference and we will try to answer and fulfill it ASAP.

How can I switch cars?

With a flexible subscription, you can change your car subscription unlimited/as often as you want, but keep in mind 1 month of driving + 1 month of notice.

We do not charge exchange fees for changing your subscription.

If you have a fixed subscription, you can switch at the end of your term.

How many keys will I receive?

You get 1 key with your car. As with rental companies, your spare key stays with the car owner. Sometimes it can happen that with a fixed subscription (from 36 months) you receive a 2nd key. This depends on the conditions of the car partner where you drive your car.

My car has an App, can I install and use it?

Apps are available for some cars these days. For each car brand, it varies whether and how you can install the user App.

To install and activate the App you often need a 2nd key. Unfortunately, since the 2nd key is left with the car owner, we cannot guarantee that the App can be installed.

How do I turn in my car?

If you decide to stop your car subscription, cancel your car subscription at least 1 month before the end of your subscription period.

After you cancel via your Carsub account, you will receive the exact return date and location, where your car will be checked and inspected (in your presence).

Make sure all personal belongings have been removed from the car (we accept no liability for the loss of belongings left in the car), any insurance claims have been filed, any damage has been reported to us, and make sure the car, all accessories, keys and vehicle documents, as received upon delivery, have been returned to us and make sure the car has a full tank and has been completely cleaned.

What does concierge service (delivery and/or pickup) cost?

Delivery or collection at your desired location (home, work or elsewhere) will cost you € 165, - incl. VAT, throughout the Netherlands (always excluding fuel costs and kilometers driven).

Are you having your car brought to you? Then start your beginning mileage (and full fuel tank) when you drive away from the car partner. The concierge service will drive this ride on your behalf. So the bringing mileage (and fuel) is always for you! Had you picked up the car yourself, you would have driven these kilometers yourself.

This also applies to returning your car. You must return your car clean inside and out and fully fueled (or at least 80% loaded) to the car dealership or give it to the concierge/pickup service driver.

Do you choose the concierge service? Then the kilometers driven and fuel for the trip to the car company are for you. Had you returned your car yourself, you would have driven and paid for these kilometers and fuel yourself.

How many free miles are included?

Your subscription includes 1,250 free kilometers per month as standard. You may average your mileage. If you drive less one month, you take the miles not driven to the next month. Do you drive more one month? Then you can make it up the following month(s).

The start and end of your mileage starts from the time you pick up your car from the relevant car partner and stops when you take it back from the relevant car dealership, regardless of whether you choose our concierge service.

Want more free mileage in your subscription in advance? You can. We charge €38 for +250 km. To arrange this, please contact our customer service 085-77 33 753.

Have you driven more kilometers at the end of your subscription? Then we apply an additional charge of € 0.20 (incl. VAT) per additional kilometer driven. The registration of your mileage is your own responsibility. This registration is done in your personal environment at carsub.com (my account - mileage registration). Here you enter the current mileage every month.

Are trips abroad possible?

Yes, you can travel abroad. You may travel with your car to all EU member states including Switzerland and UK.

EU member states are: Germany, Austria, Italy, Spain, Portugal, France, Croatia, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Slovakia, Hungary, Poland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Greece, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco and Andorra.

Travel to all countries not listed here is expressly prohibited and in individual cases only permitted with the prior, express and written consent of the car partner/owner.

Can I take my pet in the car?

Yes, you may in principle transport your pet in your Carsub car. However, you must ensure that your pet does not leave scratches, dirt or hair behind. Special cleaning and removal of marks and odors after intake and inspection will be charged.

Can I smoke in the car?

No, smoking is not allowed in Carsub cars.

Can and may I make changes to the car myself?

No, making any changes or modifications to your Carsub car is not allowed. If you do, you will be charged for all costs related to repair and restoration.

For example, if you want to attach a bike rack or roof box, discuss this with your car partner/supplier in advance.

How long may I drive a car?

Do you have a flexible subscription?

Then you get to drive a car for as long as you want. A car partner may always call the car back, but then offers a comparable replacement car.

Do you have a fixed subscription and drive your subscription through Carsub?

Then you drive at least your chosen term. If you don't cancel, your subscription will be automatically converted to a flexible (cancellable monthly) subscription with your rate retained.

Do you have a fixed subscription directly with our car partner?

Then you drive your chosen term. After that time, your subscription ends, but you've already been contacted by us or our car partner to discuss your options.

The car owner reserves the right to recall the car at any time.

If your car is recalled within your contractual term, they offer a comparable car for the agreed upon rate.

If your car is recalled after your contractual term expires, you will receive a new offer at the then current rates.

Do I need to make my own appointment for (routine) maintenance?

If a (maintenance) light comes on or your car displays the maintenance message, you need to make your own appointment with your car dealer.

The car partner may want to perform the (regular) maintenance itself, but your car supplier may also indicate that you may have the maintenance performed at a car company in your neighborhood. For this, you and the car company in your area need to ask permission in advance for maintenance at your car supplier.

If you have your car serviced or repaired without the permission of the car supplier/owner, the cost will be yours as the subscriber/rider.

What if I drive more than the monthly 1,250 free miles?

Then we (or our car partner) apply additional costs per additional km driven. The cost of the more km driven depends on the car partner where you drive your car.

If you drive your subscription through Carsub, you will be charged €0.22 per additional km driven.

Charges can be passed on both interim (during your subscription) or on your final bill.

Is a Carsub car subscription suitable and interesting for business driving or companies?

Yes, Carsub is just right for business driving.

Do you have an SME or are you a large business employer? Then our car subscription is the solution. Under the motto 'staff with car, car with car and staff away, car away' we move fully along with your workforce. Thanks to our multiple subscription options (from 1 to 60 months) you can decide what you want per employee. Of course, it is also possible to switch cars between employees.

Are you interested? Then contact us at fans@carsub.nl or 085 - 77 33 753. We will be happy to help you!

Is a Carsub car subscription suitable and interesting for ZZPs and freelancers?

Are you a freelancer or self-employed person? And are you temporarily looking for a small compact city car because of your assignment in the city center or just a 'bigger' car because of the miles you need to make. Well, then choose a flexible or min. 6 months subscription and move with your needs per assignment.

In other words, our flexibility allows you to switch cars whenever you want. You simply adjust your car usage to your situation and income! Fits perfectly into the freedom ideal of a self-employed person, right?

Are winter tires included in my subscription?

No, by default, our car partners deliver the cars on summer or all-season tires.

Do you want winter tires? Then you can contact your car supplier directly. Any (additional) subscription fees will then be handled directly with the car supplier.

Our tip: it's best, fastest and cheapest, to rent winter tires yourself from e.g. Profile, Kwik-Fit or other tire supplier for the period you need them. As long as you return your car with the delivered/original tires (and rims).

Car subscription

What is a car subscription?

Do you have Netflix, Spotify or a cell phone? If so, you already use subscription services. With a car subscription, you pay a recurring (monthly) fee to drive a car, instead of buying a car with your savings or via financing or leasing. So no long-term contracts, installment payments, residual payments or penalties for (early) termination. A subscription takes away the hassle of car ownership, because everything is included (including insurance, maintenance, repairs and taxes). You are 100% flexible to start, change or stop whenever you want. It also allows you to switch between different cars to suit your lifestyle.

How does a car subscription compare to buying a car?

Buying a car costs money. The purchase price, depreciation, maintenance, insurance, etc. are things you have to take into account. We often hear that a car costs an average of €200 to €300 per month. And those are the insurance, tax and fuel costs. While the reality is much higher, because especially depreciation is something that people often easily or not even think about. For example, if you buy a €20,000 car, you can easily pay €300 per month in depreciation. In other words, money that you don't notice, but after three years you have 'paid' and lost €10,800. And add the €300 per month to your monthly costs of €250. And then we haven't even mentioned maintenance, repairs, (tire) wear and international roadside assistance. If you add all this up, then a car subscription (where everything is included except fuel) is actually quite a good alternative, right!

How does a car subscription compare to a car loan?

To get a car loan, you usually have to pay a hefty down payment, provide a lot of documents and fill out forms, and then pay interest on the money you borrow. And then there's also the chance that you might not qualify for a loan because credit restrictions are getting tighter. A loan usually has a fixed term, to which you are held or have to pay a huge penalty to terminate. With a Carsub subscription, there are no long-term contracts and therefore never any residual debt. After the first month, your subscription is cancelable by the month. If things change in your life (resignation, higher expenses, etc.) you simply trade in your car for another (cheaper one) or stop your subscription.

Pay

How do I pay for my Carsub subscription?

Depending on the car you choose, there are 2 ways you can drive your subscription with us:

  1. You drive and have your subscription with us (Carsub) or
  2. you drive and have your subscription with our car partner

Do you have a subscription through Carsub?

Then you pay either by direct debit or through our monthly sent iDEAL/ Mollie payment link.

Do you have a subscription with one of our car suppliers?

Then you pay directly to the car partner. This can be via monthly direct debit or monthly iDEAL payment.

When will you collect my monthly fee?

If you drive your subscription with us (Carsub), you will receive a payment link with your monthly amount on every 25th day of your subscription. By this we do not mean every 25th of a calendar month, but every 25th day after the start date of your subscription.

If you start your subscription on e.g. the 10th of the month, you will receive your payment request for the new month 25 days later (around the 5th of the new month).

If you drive your subscription with our car partner, their terms and conditions apply. These will be shared with you at the time of your quote.

Tip: Want to make sure you can pay your subscription bill on time each month? Then start your subscription on a date around receipt of your income/salary.

How do we deal with fines?

Well, it can happen that one time you receive a fine. And this one comes at your expense.

Do you have a subscription through Carsub?

Then we will send you our Carsub invoice for you to pay. Because of extra work, we do charge €25. So you pay your fine and €25 administration fee. We always place the original fine (which you do not have to pay) in your Carsub account (under My Documents).

I want to object. How do I do that?

On the original fine, it is written how to object. Since Carsub pays the fine to the relevant authority immediately upon receipt, you should pay the invoice Carsub sent. You send Carsub a copy of your objection and then also the receipt from the authority. Once your appeal is approved, Carsub will receive the money back and refund it to you.

Damage & theft

What is damage?

Damage are marks that have a negative impact on the value of a car and can only be remedied by (complex) overhaul and repair techniques or replacement, for example, deep scratches, paint wear, holes, dents, cracks, fractures, smoke odor and missing parts. Damage covered by your deductible or not covered by insurance will be professionally repaired and then charged to you.

What if I have damage or an accident?

In case of damage or accident, report it immediately to the car company you drive your car from. You do this by sending a completed damage form and photos of your car to your car supplier (and CC to operations@carsub.nl).

As soon as third parties are involved in the damage, you are required to call the police and have the damage registered. And by third parties we mean people as well as objects and cars. If your car needs to be towed as a result of damage, contact your car supplier's emergency number or call the emergency/breakdown number located in your car.

You are insured for the cost, with a standard deductible. The deductible depends on the car supplier you drive with.

Does the damage turn out to be caused by and recoverable from the other party? Then, of course, everything will be settled.

Will I get a replacement car during workshop visits?

We do not provide replacement transportation for the first 24 hours if your car is missing (e.g. for repair, maintenance, etc.). If the repair or maintenance takes longer, then replacement transport is often used, but this depends on your car partner.

What if my car is stolen?

If your car is stolen, it is of course extremely annoying. And it needs to be fixed as soon as possible.

If your car is stolen, the deductible protocol applies. For example, if you forgot to lock the car and your car is stolen, you are therefore fully responsible. Also, in case of impermissible management or (gross) negligence, we have to recover the costs from you, the driver, and will be treated just like unreported damages or damages resulting from careless management of the object. Loose articles/property in your car will not be covered or reimbursed by us in case of theft or other type of damage.

Perhaps a comforting thought, all our vehicles have a GPS system. This is to safeguard and secure against possible misuse or theft.
